A Kampala-bound bus owned by Swift Safari has overturned in Sheema District in western Uganda and left several passengers injured.
Police said the bus registration number UAT 395C hit a road hump and the driver lost control before it overturned at Kitojo in Sheema Municipality (about 25 km from Bushenyi town) on Thursday morning.

Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, Mr Martial Tumusiime said the accident happened at about 10am.
He dismissed reports that several people had died. He was, however, quick to note that some of the passengers were rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and Kampala International Hospital (KIU) in Bushenyi in critical condition.

“We haven’t ascertained how many people were on board and how many have been injured because the victims were immediately rushed to KIU and Mbarara. The traffic police is on ground coordinating the smooth traffic flow and removal of the wreckage from the scene. More details will be provided shortly,” Mr Tumusiime said.
