Six Imbalu dancers knocked dead

MUKONO-Six people who were part of a group that was dancing to Kadodi, a cultural ritual dance for the Bagisu circumcision ceremony were at the weekend knocked dead after a speeding taxi rammed into them.

Naggalama Division Police Commander, Ms Grace Nyangoma said, the accident occurred at Ggavu on the Kayunga-Mukono highway at about 8pm.

She said five others, who were seriously injured and sustained broken limbs were rushed to various hospitals.

Three of the dead were women and three men.

She said that the dead were from Kateete village in Kasawo Sub-county were dancing in the middle of the road when a taxi registration number UAW 686 knocked them.

According to residents, the group were following two a group of Gishu dancers who were moving from Nakifuma to Kateete.

In December 2018, at least 10 people were killed at Wakisi Village, Wakisi Sub-county in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District during kadodi dance.

The accident occurred when a truck loaded with sugarcane rammed into a group of kadodi dancers.

The group was travelling from Wakisi  village  to Kikubamutwe village .
