Six dead, 7 injured in Nwoya accident

At least six people have been confirmed dead and seven others seriously injured after one of the tyres of the car they were travelling in burst and it overturned several times.

A total of 19 passengers were on board the ill-fated taxi travelling from Buyale Town in Kiryandongo District to Arua District.
The Pakwach RDC, Mr Swaib Toko said five people died on the spot while the other died on the way to Angal hospital where he had been referred for better treatment from Pakwach health centre IV.

“It has been confirmed that at least six people who included three women, two children and a man died. The injured were taken to Angal hospital, Nebbi general hospital and Pakwach health Centre,” Toko said.

He said he was in touch with Pakwach traffic officer to help identify the deceased before their bodies can be handed over to the relatives for burial.
By the time of filing this story their bodies were still lying at Pakwach health Centre IV mortuary pending postmortem.
