Speaker of Parliament, Ms Rebecca Kadaga has been hospitalised due to “fatigue and jet lag”, her office has announced.
Her office said in a Friday statement that she’s being managed by doctors at Nakasero Hospital, in Kampala.
“She was admitted yesterday soon after her return from a hectic working tour to Morocco and the United States of America,” a statement signed by Mr Sam Obbo, Ms Kadaga’s press secretary, reads.
It adds: “Due to the hectic work schedule, fatigue and jetlag, she has had to be admitted in hospital. We hope her privacy will be respected during this period.”
Ms Kadaga, 62, has served a Speaker since 19, May 2011. She is the first woman to be elected Speaker in the history of the Parliament of Uganda. She succeeded Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, who served as Speaker from 2001 to 2011.
