A man suspected of imposing as a State House official has been arrested and held at Mbarara Central Police Station.
The suspect was picked up on Monday on the orders of Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi, the Mbarara Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC).

According to Mr Kateera, the suspect has been masquerading as a state house employee under the name John Bosco Kwesiga to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public. He reportedly approached JB International School in Mbarara District claiming that he would help them access the State House scholarship scheme.

Mr Kateera says the suspect managed to con an unspecified amount of money from over 200 parents from Mbarara and Ntungamo districts.

He says they also found the suspect with a list of pupils from Ibanda, Isingiro, Kiruhura, Ntungamo and Mbarara Districts. Mr Solomon Tugume, a resident of Nyakayoojo Division, says he was connected to the suspect by a friend whom he had also conned. Mr Tugume says that the suspect hasn't been issuing receipts for the money he receives from his victims.
