Students kill intruder in girls’ dormitory

Gulu. The police have launched investigations into the killing of a 20-year-old man by students of Cream Land High School in Gulu Municipality on accusation that he intruded into the girls’ dormitory.
Emmanuel Oloya, a resident of Pawel Central Sub-ward, Pece Division in Gulu District, was lynched on Wednesday night on allegations of trespassing.

Information Daily Monitor obtained indicates that the deceased was an old student of the school.
The Aswa River regional police spokesperson, Mr Jimmy Patrick Okema, told journalists last Wednesday that the deceased entered the school premises with two other accomplices who escaped.
He noted that Oloya was caught hiding under one of the students’ bed, wearing a female cloth to disguise himself.

Mr okema said the angry students beat him into a coma before tying him to a flag post within the school compound until morning.
He said Oloya was later rescued from the school premises in the morning by his mother and he was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

Repercussions
Mr Okema said Oloya’s colleagues, upon hearing the news of his death, raided the boys’ dormitory in the night and looted several properties.
“We have started our investigation on what exactly happened. We got reports that the school watchman at first refused to release the deceased to his mother despite his poor condition at the time. We want to know those who participated in the mob,” he said.
He also said they will investigate what drove the deceased to enter the school premises at wee hours of the night.

A case of murder by mob has been opened at Gulu Central Police Station under reference.
Police has not yet made any arrest in connection to the death of Oloya.
The school management has since closed the school which is still under guard by police.
