Top American General warns Al-Shabaab

The Commander of the United States Africa Command, Gen Stephen Townsend, has warned the Somali insurgents Al-Shabaab that USA will pursue and disrupt their operations relentlessly.

According to the statement issued by the U.S army, the General who commands U.S military operations in Africa with headquarters in Germany, is visiting the horn of Africa.

“Terrorists need to know we shall pursue them relentlessly to disrupt and degrade them today and prevent their spread tomorrow,” said Gen Townsend.

“As long as terrorists threaten and try to impose their extreme beliefs on the people and their government, they will not be able to sleep peacefully,” he added.

“Al-Shabaab, and ISIS, are threats to our African partners, to U.S. interests in East Africa as well as to the U.S. homeland. They possess the desire and intent to attack the U.S,” Gen Townsend said.

“Due to the persistent pressure our campaign puts on al-Shabaab and ISIS, we believe they lack the actual plan now,” he added.
