Top Indian heart surgeon to offer free services

Kampala. A team of senior doctors from India will be in the country to offer free medical care at a two-day health camp focusing on children’s heart diseases, cancer and deformities of bones or muscles.
The medical camp, according to Mr Mihir Vora, the founder of MagnusMedia and the organisers of the event, will take place on November 15 and November16 at Le Memorial Hospital off Munyonyo-Kajjansi on Entebbe Expressway.
“Our doctors will also examine and offer free consultation to those that have been on treatment but are in need of expert reviews. All participants are required to carry their previous personal files for reference,” Mr Vora said in a statement.
According to data from the Uganda Heart Institute, of the 1.5 million children born in Uganda, at least 15,000 present with heart problems.

Experts
The Indian delegation of doctors will be led by Dr Suresh Rao, a cardiologist. Other doctors on the team include Imram Nisar Shaikh, a consultant oncology and Abhijit Pawar.
Mr Vora said the medical camp is targeting “serving patients who have been diagnosed and are undergoing treatment for any of the above cases and require a second expert opinion and or require information about affordable advanced treatment options in India,”
Ms Judith Komuhangi, the MagnusMedia Uganda country manager and a cancer survivor, appealed to Ugandans to turn up for the medical camp and always go for regular medical checkup and seek early treatment.
“The choice of doctors [at the camp] was informed by the level of need in the country,” Ms Komuhangi said.
