Two arrested for murdering herdsman, stealing 24 cows

Police at Kajjansi in Wakiso District have arrested two people for allegedly murdering a herdsman and stealing his 24 heads of cattle and four sheep, all valued at Shs36m.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Area Police Spokesman, Patrick Onyango, the case was first registered as; theft of cattle and disappearance of a person, by a businessman identified as Simon Ssekaayi, 60, a resident of Kitovu village, Kitonde parish in Ssisa Sub County.

"He reported that his herdsman Kamugisha had gone missing. The incident happened on December 03, 2019 at unknown time. Information was sent out about theft on different police communication channels and Police in Kikajjo intercepted the suspects and they were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen cattle and sheep," he said.

"On interrogation, the suspects revealed to have stolen the animals from Kitovu and that they had killed the herdsman. The suspects led police to the scene where they murdered Kamugisha and the body was recovered. The scene of crime was examined and body was taken to City mortuary for postmortem," Mr Onyango added.
