Mbale. Two girls who were kidnapped in two different incidents in Mbale and Jinja districts have been found. In Mbale, three-year-old Darlene Lydia Muduwa, who was allegedly kidnapped by a housemaid in Mbale District on January 18, was found on Monday evening in Aarotom Village, Wera Sub-county in Amuria District.
The acting Elgon region police spokesperson, Mr Robert Tukei, said the housemaid has been arrested.

“We tracked the prime suspect and by luck, we finally found her with the child in Amuria,” he said. The girl’s parents, Mr Moses Micheal Mukone and Ms Carol Muduwa, said they have suffered psychological torture for the last three weeks.

In Jinja, Scovia Butia, 22, who last week went missing from Njeru Municipality in Buikwe District, was found dumped by the roadside in Jinja District on Tuesday. Mr Musa Muduko, a boda boda rider, said Butia was found unconscious and taken to Jinja hospital.

She is a daughter of Mr Bweni Masenzio and Ms Atii Palimira of Danida Village, Walukuba Masese Division in Jinja Municipality.
Butia had disappeared after a female neighbour informed her father that she had got her a job at a restaurant, the father said.

“My daughter sat for Senior Four in 2017 but I lacked money to take her for further studies. So when the neighbour told me that she has found her work, I accepted,” Mr Masenzio said.

He, however, said he was surprised when the same woman returned two days later, asking about his daughter’s whereabouts.
Ssezibwa regional police spokesperson Hellen Butoto said they are still investing the case.
