The ballot boxes that were recovered.

Gulu- Sealed ballot boxes containing ballot papers have been captured by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters in Omoro County where the deputy Speaker of Parliament Mr Jacob Oulanyah was declared as the winner.

The boxes were found at about 2 pm in Binya Parish, Omoro County, Gulu District, hours after Mr Oulanyah was pronounced as the winner amidst suspicion of foul play.

Two people who had the boxes were caught after a tip-off. One of them, however, escaped.

The suspect was held at a  nearby police post before being transferred to Gulu Central Police with the exhibits—three ballot boxes, each containing ballot papers for—presidential, parliamentary and the district woman Member of Parliament candidates.

The Gulu District Returning Officer in Gulu, Mr Benson Obete on Friday pronounced Mr Oulanyah, the incumbent MP as having won with a landslide.

Mr Simon Toolit Akecha (FDC) was his main challenger.
