WAKISO/KAMPALA - Mr Muhammed Nsereko (INDEP) retained his Kampala MP seat with a comfortable win of 24692 votes (57.61) per cent. NRM’s Minsa Kabanda scored 11,840, FDC’s Harold Kaija 4959, Moses Kayondo (INDEP) 598 and Hamdani Kigozi (DP) with just 751
Mr Abdu Latiff Ssebaggala (DP) retained the Kawempe North with 3,116 votes. He was closely followed by Mr John Kyambadde 1,787 votes, Serwadda Kidandala (DP), 845, Ms Robinah Nanyunja 445, and Ssenindi Kasabula 207.
Medard Ssegona’s loyalty to the former prime minister Amama Mbabazi did not affect him. Ssegona running on the Democratic Party ticket (DP) retained his seat garnering 35,019 votes against his closest rival Mr Matovu Magoola of (FDC) with 16,969 votes. Others in the race performed were Mr Ronald Muyimba (Indep) garnering 876, Margaret Nantongo (Indep) scoring 735, Mary Ssendi 15,472 and Mr Patrick Zimula (PDP) 361.
In Kawempe South, Mr Mubarak Munyagwa, the area mayor, scored 4,540 defeating the incumbent Ssebuliba Mutumba Mudwawulira of DP who scored 680. Other candidates were William Kanyike with 809, Nsimbi Bumaali with 1,637 while Daniel Ssali and Idrisa Tenywa trailed with 499 and 180 respectively.
In Rubaga South, entertainer Kato Lubwama defeated three term MP of the area Mr John Ken Lukyamuzi. Lubwama (INDEP) scored 17,740 against Mr Lukyamuzi’s 6,145. The race had other candidates like Francis Xavier Katabarwa (DP) 2,965, Michael Kayemba trailed with 130, Mr Siraje Kifampa had 2,306, Mr Ronald Kizza scored 570 and Ms Faridah Mayanja Mpiima (NRM) recorded 6,738. Others like Francis Ssempiira had 551 and James Wasswa scored 741 votes.
In the Kampala woman MP race, FDC’s Nabila Naggayi retained her seat with 51,720 beating seven other candidates. Her closest rivals Nakiwala Kiyingi of DP, garnered 6,112, Shifra Lukwago (INDEP) 18,710, Joan Mirembe (INDEP) 2849, Nabisere Asia (NRM) 31,280 and Aidah Nakuya (TJF)
In Kyadondo east, Sitenda Sebalu (NRM) won the seat with 12,301 beating seven others who included Ms Lilian Babirye 886, Mr Apollo Kantinti 390, Mr Patrick Kigonvu 131, Ms Lydia Nabukalu 218, Ms Stella Nanyonga 1,693, Mr Alex Jumba120 and Mr Muwada Nkunyingi 2,781.
Mr Robert Kasule garnered 9,782 to win the Nansana Municipality seat. He was closely followed by Mr Wakayima Musoke 7,397 votes, Samuel Kibanga 1,733, Mr Rajab Kaaya 4,281, Mr Robert Kasule 9,782, Frank Mubiru 492 and Ssebowa Kagulire 1,917 votes.
Mr Peter Sematimba finally earned a political position after enduring different defeats. He won the Busiro South seat with 24,153 votes. He was closely followed by Mr Stephen Sekigozi with 19,055 votes. Journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala garnered only 480, Mr Ronald Kibirigo 384 and Ivan Kiwanga 118.
Mr Frank Kyazze scored 7,464 to win the seat. Mr Kalungi Kirumira (DP) scored 4537, Mr Nyombi Nansubuga 5,330, Semusu Mathias Mugobansonga 2,528, Henry Sekuwada 6,087 and Ssempala Kigozi 1,141.
FDC spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda won with 36,499 votes, Juliet Najjuma scored 11,635, Eddie Yawe 8,526, and Paul Bukenya 582.
Seen as a political flip-flopper, former vice president Gilbert Bukenya was defeated by Mr Dennis Galabuzi (NRM) with 10,613 votes. Mr Bukenya only managed to poll 5073 votes. Henry Kiwuuwa got 1,082, Annet Bakunzi 4,853, Hussein Kasiita (DP), 2,442, Mr Daudi Mukiibi 6547 and Swaibu Nsereko 185.
