Gas cylinder blast kills one, injures six in Banda

One person was confirmed dead and six others injured when a gas cylinder exploded at a Metal Fabrication workshop at Banda, on the outskirts of Kampala, last evening. The deceased, identified as Diana Tubulihwa died on the way to hospital, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango.

The six that sustained injuries include Sylvia Nanono, a receptionist at the metal fabrication workshop, Barnabas Kasaawa-the supervisor, Mary Namukwe- the secretary and Sharon Nekesa, a cleaner at the same place. The others are Emmanuel Wekoyera, Evas Opio.

The Police Bomb Squad visited the crime scene and declared the place as a crime scene for unspecified period. Investigations are still ongoing.

A similar accident happened last month, in Namayumba, Wakiso District killing two people and injuring six others. The deceased were identified as Taddeo Jagenda, 51, and Suleiman Kinobe, 73.
