At least minister Kiwanda isn’t sleeping like others

Much opposition has been expressed over the planned staging of Miss Curvy Pageant, but I wonder what the hullaballoo is all about. I have so far failed to understand the argument people are advancing against the pageant. What point are they trying to drive home?

In my view, their main concern seems to be centred on the size or shape of the contestants (their big hips, bums, etc) and they forget the intended tourism aspect behind the whole thing. Can anyone educate me on the difference between Miss Uganda and Miss Curvy pageants? Why is it that Miss Uganda Pageant (featuring slender small girls with slim waists and bums) is okay and the same is not true with Miss Curvy Pageant (with ladies hips, bursts, curves, etc) is regarded as unacceptable? Isn’t this discrimination of the highest order ?

Haven’t we seen contest for most ugly looking men or Mr Uganda (where frightening looking men would expose their muscles and big chests and breasts) staged in this country? The two contests took Kampala by storm. Where is the logic?

Well, the way things are going, it appears like our government has been infected and is seriously suffering from a deadly cancer whose symptom is the urge to ban this or ban that - Miss Curvy, Lunyege Dance, betting, some TV programmes etc.
Regarding Miss Curvy, I applaud junior Tourism minister Godfrey Kiwanda for his great innovation. At least he is not a sleeping minister like those the President has castigated.”
