Minister’s advice to Fresh Kid is in good faith

As a parent to-be, I agree with Minister for Youth and Children, Ms Nakiwala Kiyingi advice to Patrick Ssenyojo, aka Fresh Kid, to perform in places fit for him and not night clubs and bars then stay in school.

With all sorts of things happen in night clubs, no parent would want their child to have such experience.

Alcohol, obscenity and vulgarity is the order of the day in bars. Children singing in bars show that rules and regulations in hangout places are no longer followed because children below 18 years were never allowed in such places.

Any parent who wishes the best for their child can’t allow them to sing in bars or clubs or places where old people hangout. There is nothing positive a child will learn from such a place apart from smoking, and drinking alcohol, etc.

With all the criticism of the minister, she has emerged the winner. Fresh Kid visited her in office and she gave him guidelines, which his manager endorsed. These include following the law, not exploiting Fresh Kid, not perform during day and he has to attend school.

But the minister did not stop Fresh Kid from singing. Children are entitled to light work. And the light work should be supervised by an adult. Minister Nakiwala wishes Fresh Kid well. Being talented is great, but with education, talent becomes even better.
