Uganda Airlines presents opportunities to citizens

I would like to congratulate Uganda Airlines for acquiring an Air Operation’s Certificate (AOC) from Uganda Civil Aviation Authority. This is a milestone in the country’s flying sector as Ugandans will no longer be exploited by the high cost they incur when they use other airlines. The routes will be from Entebbe International Airport to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Mogadishu, Kilimanjaro, Bujumbura and Mombasa, all around the region.

Uganda Airlines, a replacement of the services previously operated by East African Airways in 1977, was initially established in May 1976 and begun operations in 1977. This particular airline ceased operations in May 2001, with other eight destinations in Africa and Eurasia. In 2013, the government showed intention to revive the carrier and discussions commenced in late 2014.

Having a national carrier means the connectivity within the region and beyond will improve among citizens as well as tourists travelling to and from Uganda. It also helps to build the national pride for Uganda as country with carrier. The two CRJ900 Bombardier planes that were received by the country in June have an average seating capacity of 64 economy passengers and 12 first class passengers.

As a matter of fact, this airline has and will continue to provide employment to Ugandans, including as cabin crew, airline administrative support, operations agents, aviation technicians, flight dispatchers, aviation meteorologists, crew schedule coordinators, and airline flight instructors, among others.

This is great news in the ears of for many Ugandans that have specialized in the aviation sector as capital on the motherland.
