Nanyondo, Nakaayi progress to women 800m final

Uganda’s Winnie Nanyondo and Halimah Nakaayi have progressed to the 800 metre final at the 2019 IAAF World Championship at Khalifa International stadium in Doha on September 28, 2019.

Nanyondo underlined her IAAF World Championship medal plans with the fastest time of the women’s 800 metre heats to qualify for the final. She crossed the line behind US runner Raevyn Rogers with the personal best of 2.00.36.

Halimah Nakaayi also advanced after finishing first with a time of 1.59.36 in the second heat.

The final is scheduled for Sunday (September 29, 2019).
