UWA give new rank to Kiplimo

Jacob Kiplimo’s second-place finish in the senior men’s 10km at the IAAF World Cross-country Championships continues to elevate him.
Having won the silver medal behind his compatriot Joshua Cheptegei in Aarhus, Denmark on Saturday, the teenager yesterday earned a promotion at his club Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). UWA executive director Sam Mwandha announced the Kiplimo will be moved up the ranks from private ranger to Lance Corporal. “Jacob is a private ranger and he will be promoted to the next rank,” Mwandha said in his long speech to Kiplimo and other UWA club runners after a luncheon near their offices in Kampala. “For everybody who brings us a medal in the future, they will be elevated.
This is to promote these athletes and encourage to do more. Being an athlete requires a lot of commitment and sacrificing lots of things. It is like what Paul wrote to the Corinthians in the Bible,” added Mwandha. Kiplimo, who also won a team gold for Uganda, represented UWA with club captain Ronald Musagala who featured in the mixed relay.
