Enabu uncertain as Oilers resume quest for seventh

KAMPALA- No family can boast of a more substantial contribution to the domestic basketball scene than that of the Enabu family which has accumulated 12 championship medals since 2008.
Jimmy Enabu has played a starring role as a multiple Most Valuable Player (MVP) in that sequence particularly for reigning National Basketball League (NBL) holders City Oilers.
Six straight titles
The guard having helped the Oilers to six straight championship wins has seven winners’ medals thus far in addition to his 2011 triumph with Betway Power. That tally is however unlikely to increase at a similar rate after the flying guard signaled a change in ambitions by enrolling for an aviation course.
His flight training school schedule is thus expected to reduce his on-court availability as City Oilers resume their quest for a seventh straight championship.
Eager to stamp mark
That assault resumes today with game one of the best-of-three quarterfinals series against Ndejje University Angels at YMCA court.
The reigning champions are however unlikely to be troubled that much in this series after often appearing like a newly lubricated automobile when stamping their mark on the domestic game.
The Oilers again underlined that massive superiority after posting wins of more than 34 points in the two regular season meetings against the Walker Obedi and John Omondi coached Ndejje Angels side.
The latter also come into this series seeded seventh in comparison to the Oilers who are second seeds and are on a 15-game unbeaten run.
No series loss
More significant for Mandy Juruni’s charges, however, is that they have never lost a playoff series in six years and can count on the emergence of Tony Drilleba.
Veteran forward Stephen Omony is also in line for a return this postseason having missed most of the regular season since suffering an injury against Warriors in the first round.
