Former World Junior Middleweight champion John ‘The Beast’ Mugabi will be inducted into the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame (FBH0F) in June.

The induction weekend will take place on June 24-26 at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel. An email sent by Steve Canton, the vice president of FBH0F to Mugabi and copied to Daily Monitor, confirmed the positive development.

“We have been trying to reach you. I had previously found your daughter Millie’s (Mildred Prudence Mugabi) contact information and spoke to her on the phone. She was very happy to learn of your induction and very proud of you.

“The president of FBH0F Butch Flansburg has been working hard on obtaining a sponsor to pay for your airline tickets, hotel, and expenses so that you can make the trip and share in the wonderfull weekend.

“I believe he does have things worked out, so please send the information back as soon as possible and arrangements can be made for you,” read part of the email to Mugabi, urging the Ugandan legend to get back to the organisers.

Mugabi’s glowing career record is 42-1-7 (39 knockouts).
