Trainer Peter Mulindwa has asserted that his boxer Abdu Ssebute is ready for any opponent ahead of his East and Central Africa Boxing Union super flyweight title fight at the MTN Arena Lugogo next Friday.

This fight has been postponed twice, and opponents changed thrice: from Hajji Juma Mwalugo, to Patrick Kimweri to now Muhamed Swedi—all Tanzanians.
But 10 days to the event, that no longer bothers the Ssebute camp.
“My coach has prepared me for any boxer…and I assure you a great show,” Corporal Ssebute told the press at the UPDF Military Barracks, Mbuya yesterday.

“In boxing, you are only sure of your opponent when the bell goes. Because anything can happen and the opponent opts out of the fight,” his trainer Mulindwa, substantiated. “So we have been training for all sorts of opponents, whether orthodox or southpaw. And were are ready.”

According to Boxrec, the official professional boxing database, Kimweri, who was scheduled to fight Ssebute recently, lost to fellow Tanzanian Fadhili Majiha by technical knockout June 6. But Nara Promotions’ Hussein Babu said Kimweri lied about his loss. “He lost by KO and is supposed to rest for at least three months so the Tanzanian boxing commission couldn’t sanction him for this fight.”

The night Ssebute beat Mohamadi Nsubuga by majority decision to win the national super flyweight title at Laponye Parking lot, December 26, 2018, Swedi lost to Ugandan Frank Kiwalabye by unanimous decision. Ssebute is unbeaten in six pro fights while Swedi has won 12, lost 6 and drawn 2.
Lt Deo Akiiki, the UPDF deputy spokesperson, said Police will handle security, with the army providing backup.
