Apart from polishing their golf skills, the Uganda ladies amateur team has devoted some of its time to soliciting sponsorship to make possible an appearance at the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) set for August 16-19.
The showpiece, going into the second edition, will be hosted at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club.
Team Uganda needs $8,000 (about Shs20.6m)for five golfers to travel and fight for honours that eluded the team during the event’s inaugural edition held at Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Kitante course in 2009.
“We have approached many corporate companies and government institutions, including the National Council of Sports,” UGU official Jasper Kamukama, also a member of the team, said.
Eva Magala, Flavia Namakula and Entebbe’s 17-year-old sensation Bridgette Basiima (h/c 15) are the other three members on the team.
They will be accompanied by regional AACT trustee Monica Ntege and delegation leader Rose Azuba Musoke, the Uganda Ladies Golf Union president and non-playing captain.
