MBARARA- The beauty about the game of golf is that it has no age limit.
While physically demanding sports like soccer and basketball require incredible levels of athleticism, golf is a game when you play the course.

It is how 85 golfers faced off in the Mbarara Seniors Golfers tournament at Mbarara Golf Club at the weekend. The one-day event was won by Dr Bernard Maniraguha with 34 points.

Age is just a number and the old, wise heads showed tremendous poise and balance driving the ball from the tee beautifully and attacking the greens with some wonderful approach shots.

Promote the game
Mark Ntege, the chairman of the Uganda Senior Golfing Society who organised the competition, reiterated their desire to promote the game among people of 55 years and more.

“Our purpose is to promote the game and interaction among people of that age (55) and currently we hae a total of 150 members,” he said at the closing ceremony.

“Every country has got a senior golfing society and we shall continue to play in events that can grow ours.”
Mbarara Golf Club captain Jackson Were noted that more golfers in the district are taking to the game, a clear sign that more individuals are beginning to appreciate it.
