Don’t expect miracles from me this weekend, says ace Lwakataka

KAMPALA. All eyes will be on Ponsioano ‘Mafu Mafu’ Lwakataka in his newly acquired Subaru Impreza N12B during the CMC Challenge Rally this weekend.
Lwakataka acquired the Subaru from Jas Mangat.
The two-day event is the second round of the National Rally Championship (NRC).

However, Mafu Mafu who last competed in Fort Portal during the UMC event in June last year but dropped out with engine failure, has appealed to his fans to be patient with him this weekend.
“I have not had time to train and master the N12B (Subaru). This is the first time I am driving a factory prepared car,” the two-time national champion said.

Change from manual
“Most of the cars I have used in my rallying career have been manual. This one is completely new to me and it’s a left-hand drive.”
The Mafu Mafu driver, who will have Samuel Mugisha as his co-driver, said they will use the event to get used to the car but promised fireworks during the subsequent events.
Over 50 drivers have registered to take part in the 217km of which 124km is competitive spread over 11 sections.
