What you need to know:

  • Elsewhere, all the 50 cars will this morning go for scrutineering at Shell Bugolobi. Hassan Alwi (N14), Christakis Fitidis ( Evo X) and Kephar Walubi ( Evo X) will be the first followed by Unisan Bakunda (Evo), Manvir Baryan (Skoda) and Dharam Pandya (Subaru).

The crew of Ronald Ssebuguzi/Leon Ssenyange and Arthur Blick Jr/ George Semakula have been impressed by V-Power Shell Pearl of Africa route.
The event gets underway with a Super Special Stage at Uganda Sports Arena Busiika tomorrow.

Navigators George Ssemakula and Leon Ssenyange of Shell Rally Team said the route is better than last year’s. Ssenyange added: “For the first time it’s going to interesting rally. The route doesn’t favour any cars or drivers.”
However, Ssenyange thinks Subaru N14 and Skoda will have minimum advantage.

After misfortune in the Kenya Safari Rally last month, Ssenyange disclosed that they fixed the car and it’s ready to go as they chase their first Pearl victory and also stay ahead of the log in the National Rally Championship (NRC) title race.
The biggest worry for both is the weather and praying hard it doesn’t rain. Semakula said sections Adel (29.13km) and Shekhar Mehta (22.35km) will be the game changes in this year’s event.
