MX: Youngster Wekesa inspired by podium finish

KAMPALA. Youngster Kylan Wekesa has promised to build on the podium finish he got in the opening round of the Mountain Dew Motocross championship at Garuga Race track.
Wekesa in a KTM 2019 model came second behind winner Stav Orland in the 85cc.
A buoyant Wekesa is realistic in his ambitions going into Sunday’s race at the Uganda Motorsport Arena in Busiika. “I know I can’t beat Stav on speed and jumps but I want to build on my performance from the last round to be a better rider.

Clear jumps
“I want to clear jumps and increase on the speed if am to challenge for top honors,” the Great Lakes Safaris-sponsored rider explained.
Wekesa is still enthralled by his podium finish from last month.
“It was my first podium finish since I joined the sport and this inspires me a lot because I want to be the best there is.” With only two years experience in racing, the 13-year-old has shown fearless heart and committment in his quest to become an elite competitor in the man and machine sport.
“I will try to put up a good fight so that I finish in a respectable position in all upcoming events,” Wekesa noted. But he has to fight off the challenges of the Obote brothers Milton Akaki and Akena who also joined the 85cc club this season.
