Mangat eyes maximum points in NRC decider

KAMPALA. With only two days to the climax of the National Rally Championship (NRC) in the Oryx Mosac Rally 2018, Jas Mangat has promised an all-out attack.
Mangat, chasing his fourth NRC title, will be making his maiden appearance in the eastern town of Mbale but is not worried of the terrain.
Together with his co-driver Joseph Kamya in Mitsubishi Evo X, the crew are confident of their chances of claiming the title. “We have nothing to lose,” Kamya told Daily Monitor. “We have been in a similar situation before.” The Pili Pili crew, who dropped out of the Kabalega Rally in September, faced a similar challenge in 2016 after their win in Hoima was cancelled. At the time, they were battling Hassan Alwi for the title with the latter chasing his maiden national title. The International University of East Africa-sponsored driver rolled out and gifted Mangat the opportunity to cruise to his third title.
Kamya added: “This time round, the sections are flat and are not in the hilly areas which gives them the advantage.”
Regarding the other two contenders, Kamya who is going for his second title as a navigator, said Ronald Ssebuguzi and Susan Muwonge are ‘very good drivers.’ But, he added, ‘they (Mangat and Kamya) were going to concentrate on their own plans.’
