Adam Rauf Essa and Aaron Nsamba have vowed to spoil the party for National Rally Championship (NRC) title contenders this weekend.

The Total rally crew, who will cruise an Evo X, go into the Total Umospoc Kabalega Rally in Hoima having failed to finish in the past two events - the Pearl of Africa Rally in July and UMC Fort Portal Rally last month.

However, with a Shs31.5m sponsorship package from Total and Finnish rally ace Tapio Laukkanen - in charge of the crew’s mechanics, Rauf is confident of ending the season on a high.

“We want to be the party spoilers in Hoima, but I think Yasin (Nasser) has done enough to win the championship,” Rauf told the press at Total Wampewo after the sponsorship unveiling.

Oil business in Hoima
Earlier, Obi Imemba, Total Uganda Limited Managing Director said the sponsorship package is for the remaining two events this season.

“Next year we are coming big. We have sponsored driver (Rauf) and the event because we are involved in oil business in Hoima,” said Imemba.

“We also have many outlets in Hoima.” Total gave Umospoc the organisers Shs20m for the event.

Others present at the sponsorship press meet were Lawrence Ssempangi, Total Uganda Ltd Operations Manager, Emmanuel Ssebunya, the Marketing manager and Herbert Rutagwera, FMU treasurer. The event which has attracted 40 drivers will cover a total of 303.07km of which 173.83km are Competitive Sections (CS).

The event starts tomorrow with two sections before the Super Special Stage at Kontik Hotel, Hoima.
