Kampala. Winning the regional MX85 title last month will inspire Fortune Ssentamu to reclaim the national title he lost to Ben Nsumba, according to his mother.

Darbella Apolot, Ssentamu’s mother said, “Fortune will take the positives from last season to the opening round of Mountain Dew MX Championship scheduled for Victoria Race Track Garuga on January 21.

“Missing the national title which would have given him a hat-trick in the MX85cc is behind him now and he is firmly looking forward to this season.”

Last season Ssentamu had a misfortune in the opening two rounds. He scored 11 points in one and was disqualified in the other but after acquiring a new bike, he pushed Nsumba all the way but fell short.

Ben Nsumba and Malcolm Lubega, last’s year MX65cc champion, are likely to be the main challengers to Ssentamu in the absence of the Orland siblings Aviv and Stav, who will skip the event to take part in the Kenya Championship the same weekend.

William Blick Jr and Miguel Katende will take their rivalry to MX50 senior after upgrading from Peewee while Isabella Blick, who had dominated MX50 senior for the past three years, will ride in MX65 in the new season. The opening round is sponsored by Mountain dew, Shell Advance, Lato Milk, Foto Genix and Cherish hospital.
