Show the world what you can do - Gen Kyanda

KAMPALA. Major General Leopold Kyanda, the Chief of Staff Land Forces has challenged Uganda riders to show that they are not push overs. Uganda MX team will this weekend take on the rest of the world at the inaugural Armed Forces MX Championship to be held at Uganda Sports Arena Busiiki on Sunday.

Kyanda said it has taken seven months of planning for the event and thanked the team led by Barak Orland, the FMU vice president in charge of motorcycling.

“Now it’s the turn of riders to prove that they can take on any one,” Kyanda said. “Aviv, Stav, Aalon, Maxime, Fortune (Ssentamu), Maxime and Isabella are ready. They have participated in international events and triumphed now they can do it at home.”

He also said the Armed Forces appreciate the first event organised by the civilians for the military and conveyed greeting from Gen. David Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces.

Kyanda also thanked the corporate world for making the event a success and invited the public to grace Busiika.

Some of the companies which have contributed to the event include Africell (Sh60m), Axcl (Sh50m), NCS (Sh10m), Coca Cola, Pangea Aviation Academy – a helicopter for medical avacuation, Uganda Lodges who have redesigned the track, Stanbic (Sh40m), NCR and Tamarai Restaurant and bar.

Other present at the function include Col. Paddy Ankunda director of strategic communication, Brig. William Bainomugisha commander Uganda Military Police, Lt. Deo Akiiki the UPDF assistant spokesperson and Col. Naboth, Director of Protocal in UPDF.
