KAMPALA. The chase for the 2018 national title remains wide open as drivers prepare to head west to Bunyoro sub-region to compete in the third edition of the Kabalega rally.
However, the outcome of the September 6-9 event could determine the winner of the national title.

Apparently Jas Mangat, rivals Ronald Sebuguzi (pic above) and Super Lady Susan Muwonge all have a chance to win this year’s title.
A fifteen-point gap stands between championship leader Jas Mangat and second placed Ronald Ssebuguzi.

At 245 points, Susan Muwonge trails Mangat by sixty points and first position finish for the super lady team and a DNF (Did Not Finish) for both Mangat and Ssebuguzi could drastically change the table.

The Kabalega rally will be flagged off on September 8 with three sections including a 3km super spectators stage at Kotik hotel in Hoima town
The event will then climax on Sunday with three more sections before the prize giving ceremony at Miika Eco Resort Hotel in Hoima.

Running for the third time in arow, the event has attracted local attention in the Bunyoro sub region. A host of local sponsorships including a Shs35m package by SBI International Holding have been signed by UMOSPOC, the club organising the event.

“We are very grateful to FMU for having chosen us Bunyoro Kitara to be your patners,” Bunyoro Kingdom prime minister Andrew Byakutaga remarked at the lunch held in Hoima. “This event comes with a lot of opportunities which include domestic tourism.”
FMU president Dusman Okee, who had just returned from Kenya for the meeting to re-launch the East Africa Safari Rally, commended SBI for emphasing safety as exhibited to the guests as they accessed the facility for the launch.

“This is a clear indication that we are going to be great partners,” noted Okee whose three-year reign as FMU president has been characterized by road safety campaigns during motorsports events.
