Kampala- Susan ‘Super Lady’ Muwonge, the reigning National Rally Champion, is in confident mood ahead of the Lato Milk-Mbarara Rally this weekend. The two day event is the season opener.

The two-time champion (2011 and 2018) believes the pressure is on her rivals. The Super Lady, as she is known, will drive her trusted Subaru N12B with her regular co-driver Edmond Kyeyune as they chase back-to-back titles and a third career championship.

They will open the route on Saturday and will be followed by Ronald Ssebuguzi and Jas Mangat, two big contenders she beat in 2017.

Muwonge told Daily Monitor that she is not scared of opening the route. “I have done it before twice - in 2012 and last year during the during the FMU challenge rally in Jinja,” she said.

“I will drive at my pace seeing that the car is in good condition and if all goes well, nothing will stop me.”

Fortunately for her, she has a good track record in Mbarara. After a three-year break from the sport, she finished third behind the winner Mangat and runner-up Christakis Fitidis in last year’s race.

Meanwhile Hassan Alwi, who missed the NRC title by four points in 2016, will have a new co-driver, Sirajih Kyambadde, in a Subaru N14.
Elsewhere, the event manager Saidi Kakeeto says they will move fast drivers like 2015 champion Arthur Blick Jr and two-time national champion Ponsiano Lwakataka up the starting order.
