Kampala. The 2018 Junior World Badminton Championships that concluded over the weekend in Canada was a humbling experience for the Ugandan team.
This is after they lost all four group games against Taiwan, Brazil, France and Norway at the six-day event. It was however not all gloom for the Brian Kasirye led side as they secured what turned out to be their only win of the campaign at the fifth attempt.

A 3-0 win over Mongolia ensured they would not finish bottom despite later losing to New Zealand and Australia.
Expedito Emuddu and Fadilah Shamika recorded a 21-11 and 21-18 straight set win over Badamlyankhua Batbayar and Temuulen Gombodorj to set the ball rolling in the doubles category before wins in the singles games.
Kasirye, a silver medalist at the Africa Youth games, then defeated Sumiyasuren Enkhbat 16-21 18-21 while Tracy Naluwooza got the better of Munkhnar Lkhagvasuren 8-21 9-21 on the team that also included Arshath Mohamed.
