KAMPALA. After winning the 2018 Mr Kampala crown Lameck Muwanga is now keen to add the Mr Uganda title when athletes flex their muscles at the ultimate bodybuilding event at Tropical Inn, Masaka, December 2.
In June Muwanga won the Mr Kampala crown where Isaac Mubikirwa was not allowed to compete because he had already won the biggest title (the Mr Uganda), and the man nicknamed “Rasta” for his dreadlocks, is keen to dethrone Mubikirwa once more.
“I’m very ready and after winning the Mr Kampala crown, I’m seriously plotting for the bigger accolade.
“Come the day, only bodies, not mouths, will talk,” he said responding to suggestions that Mubikirwa will not allow pretenders to his throne.
Asked what he has improved on since the last stage appearance, Muwanga told the journalists at Body Tempo gym in Rubaga: “Look, I think you can see a great improvement,” as he flexed his voluminous but chiseled shoulders and biceps, decorated with tattoos.

Other contenders
Yet it is not only Muwanga dreaming of glory. Recently crowned Mr Jinja Godfrey Waiguta, debutant Latif Kisambira and Masaka’s Ismail Mbowa are some of the contenders.
Kenneth Ssekiranda, the athletes representative, warned the favourites about complacence, suggesting that in bodybuilding competitions, there are always surprise packages. And surely, Mubikirwa, Mubarak Kizito, Andrew Ssenoga and Muwanga were surprise champions.
On why the event has gone to Masaka, instead of the more convenient Kampala, Twaha Ddungu, the Uganda Bodybuilding and Fitness Association president said the policy aims at selling the sport nationwide.
