KAMPALA. Elephants’ season in the Futsal Super League has been one to forget. Just two wins in 11 games, is not the best stat yet considering the fact that they have picked the ball from the net 54 times, makes them the second most generous team after second from the bottom Kabowa, who have conceded 57 times.

Yet they still have hopes of climbing top on the table to earn a respectable place. Last week’s 7-all draw with Bajim after a 5-4 half-time loss, is the hope they carry into today’s game against title contenders, Park. Collins Muhumuza, who scored five of those goals is confident of improving.

“The good thing is that we are able to score goals. We only need to defend and it worked when we conceded just two in the second half,” he said last week. That does not matter at all, according to Park’s captain Idd Babu, whose side is well rested.

“Our game has been about striking the balance between attack and defence,” he said. Park, who are third on the table, have scored 55 goals and conceded 33. A win today, does not guarantee leaving their spot because leaders Yeak Kabowa are five points better and have a winnable game against out-of-sorts Mengo City while second-placed Parakeets play tricky Typhoons, who have lost players to StarTimes Uganda Premier League clubs.
