Ndejje University vows to impress in China

Ndejje University is confident of beating the odds when they participate in the 3x3 FISU World University League Finals in Xiamen, China from November 15 to 18, 2018.

The 2018 edition will be contested by teams from Oceania, Asia, Americas, Africa and Europe and Ndejje, who are the African champions, are ready for the global showcase.

Samuel Ajak, the team captain said Friday during a flag off dinner in their honour at Sheraton Hotel by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), that he could not wait to get to China.
“Being able to represent Uganda and Ndejje is especially exciting,” he said. “We shall do our best but meeting people from across the world, building new friendships and being part of such an enjoyable tournament is also something I’m looking forward to.”

Samora Semakula, the Quality Assurance manager of UTB, said the sponsorship was strategic.
“China is our emerging market for tourists. The power of sports had been undermined in the past but we want them to understand about the Pearl of Africa when you play in this competition,” Ssemakula said.

Even though Ndejje rightfully earned their place after excelling in the African University Games held in Mekelle, Ethiopia, in July 2018, team coach Walker Obedi says they are looking forward to compete.
"We are a determined team and I think we are well prepared for the physicality of the game.”

Ndejje is in Pool B alongside, Faculty of Technology of Alagoas (Brazil), Payame Noor University (Iran) and University of Auckland (New Zealand).
