KAMPALA. There are few individuals as passionate and enthusiastic about sport like Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick
The former rugby player, who was last year elevated to the revered status of IOC Member, was fittingly rewarded with the highest honour of Italy to a non-Italian by the country’s President Sergio Mattarella.
Blick has been exemplary as UOC boss championing various community development initiatives through sport and steering a vibrant management team of the National Olympic Committee.

Blick has worked hand-in-hand with the out-going Italian ambassador to Uganda H.E Domenico Fornara on various causes, the last of which was the visit of Sampdoria coaches who guided an Internally Displaced People’s training camp in West Nile. Blick has helped promote a series of community-based Italian projects and interests in Uganda.
The award from President Mattarella was presented to Blick by Fornara. The First Son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba was full of praise for Blick, whose tenure expires in 2021.

“Congratulations to my brother (William) Blick on achieving this high honour from the President of Italy.
“Well done for always pushing yourself to achieve excellence,” the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations posted on his Twitter handle.
Blick replaced Rogers Ddungu as UOC President having served as vice President under him.
