CAR Cup draw
Pool A: Tunisia, Ivory Coast,
Pool B: Namibia, Uganda, Kenya,
Pool C: Madagascar, Zimbabwe,
Ham Onsando may not have needed all the resting time he’s getting currently but Namibia’s inability to host the Confederation of African Cup (CAR) scheduled for later this month has left no options Speaking to Daily Monitor yesterday, the Rugby Cranes coach shed light on the anxious wait as CAR search for a new host following the Southern African nation’s failure to confirm its availability. “Of course, we want to play but there’s nothing we can do at this point except waiting. Preparations are ongoing with two training sessions each week involving a squad of 32 players,” Onsando said.
Rugby Cranes were drawn in a tough pool B alongside Africa’s number one none-test playing nation Namibia, rivals Kenya and Cameroon but the tournament is in balance. It’s been a tough year for Uganda so far as the team lost to Kenya home and away making the victory over Zimbabwe only cosmetic in the Tri-Nation Elgon/Victoria Cup. This was compounded by the failure to travel to Zimbabwe following the bomb blasts at Kyadondo RFC on July 11 which left some members of the team traumatised.
