Betway Kobs’ lead cut after Mongers scare

Kampala. Betway Kobs will look back at their Nile Special Premiership 30-29 win over Plascon Mongers as a great escape.
They stood the test of time as Mongers mounted the pressure to deny them the five points but four will work for now despite their adavntage being reduced to two points.
On an afternoon that had Legends host a triple header, Both Warriors and Hima Heathens had done good business against Rams and Rhinos respectively with bonus point wins.Heathens` win had propelled them to the top of the standings by two points, their fans and players stayed around to cheer on Mongers and the sight of Heathens captain Michael Wokorach seated next to Mongers coach John Wandicho for majority of the game had it all to say.
Mongers probably had the biggest crowd ever to back them and they did not dissapoint with a remarkable shift that either way could not deliver the win,something more than half of Legends were praying for.
Mongers led 25-29 with about 15 to go but captain Brian Asaba led from the front with a try from a maul to send Kobs fans into delirium. Ian Muyani, Conrad Mukwaya and Faraji Odugo got Kobs` tries while a Joachim Kisanda brace and one from Hannington Mukalazi tallied three tries for Mongers.
“Such games are come up in a league. There are games where you just have to hang in there even when you are not having a good day and today was one of them,” Asaba told Daily Monitor.
Rhinos lost 24-0 to Heathens but the former put in a improved perfomance in contrast to their previous games. They made Heathens toil for the bonus point try and by the time man of the match Jordan Bongomin got it, Rhinos had empty tanks on them.
“It was a good game from the boys,” said captain and makeshift scrumhalf Francis Odonga. “
We have to build on it next week against Rams,” he added.
Kobs still lead on 63 points with Heathens in second on 61 with four games to go.
