Cranes get injury boost ahead of Zimbabwe, Zambia rubbers

  • Vice captain Justin Kimono, who debuted against Zimbabwe in 2011 with a brace, scored his first international try in four years on Saturday can finish the campaign on a high with if he touches down against both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Full back Phillip Wokorach, Daudi Semwami, Pius Ogena and Byron Oketayot have all passed fitness tests in the race to play against Zimbabwe tomorrow and Zambia next Saturday.

While Wokorach, Semwami, and Ogena suffered knocks against Zambia last Saturday, Oketayot has been out since July 13 after picking up a knee injury against Kenya.

His return along with the availability of the trio will bring some relief to the Cranes camp.
“They passed the fitness tests and are expected to play roles against Zimbabwe and Zambia.

“They are players every coach would love to have at his disposal and we are glad to have them fit to play,” said Cranes coach Robert Seguya yesterday as the side prepared to fly out to Harare.

The Cranes camp will in Zimbabwe until Monday after the game before hitting the road to Zambia for the final their final tie of the Victoria Cup campaign.
Eric Mula, who got stretched off against Zambia, misses out with Paul Masendi returning.

Hooker Faragi Odugo who impressed on his last outing keeps his place despite the naming of fellow hooker Ronald Kanyanya to keep out Joseph Kagimu.
Desire Ayera, who is enjoying a purple patch in the side with three tries in last two outings, is in the side and should get more minutes after making a statement.
