Yesterday, the Hima Cement Heathens announced the acquisition of eight players ahead of the upcoming 15s season that starts tomorrow with the Uganda Cup journey to Impis at the Graveyard in Makerere.
These are: Scot Oluoch (Kenya Harlequins), Innocent Gwotko (Toyota Buffaloes), Joseph Oyet Victor Wangobo (Warriors), Aaron Ofoyrwoth (Kenya Harlequins), Ivan Claude Otema, Boaz Musasizi (both Stallions) and Jamil Nyango (Rhinos).

Oluoch, Nyango, Ofoyrwoth and Oyet have played for Heathens in the past and according to Coach Mohammad Athiyo, they chose to return ‘home’ to beef the green army.
“Kyadondo is more of a home to these players and when we learned of their availability, we sat and reached the deals because all we want is to make the team strong going into the season,” he said.

The team also showcased their new kit and other training equipment from Hima Cement, their sponsors. Veteran Oluoch, a journeyman by all accounts, stands out for his experience in the backrow and is expected to slot straight into the team that visits the youthful students.
The new players are a mix of youth and experience and Athiyo believes the gelling will be key.

“We looked deeply at what every player can contribute to the team decided to go for that (youth and experience) because whereas the experience gives you instant know-how, the youth give you a good future,” added Athiyo, himself a former Heathens lock.
Defending champions Kobs, who have captured speedy winger Daudi Semwami from kenya Harlquins, start their title defense away to Mbale Elephants.
