Hima Heathens needed two late tries from captain Michael Wokorach and replacement Gideon Kaihura to earn a key bonus point against Toyota Buffaloes and keep top of the Nile Special Premiership table, on Friday at Kyadondo.

Heathens have been guilty of falling short of bonus points on four ocassions in the first round. They managed five just like Stanbic Pirates while Betway Kobs picked seven, it explains why the latter trailed Heathens by just a point despite winning all their games.

It had a lot do with failing to finish off opponents unlike on Friday when they kept pushing for the three try margin even when the tide was against them. Uhuru got a brace and Santos Senteza also managed one in a game Heathens’ pack were asked to do most of the work.

“ We got the bonus point and the most important thing is we won,” said a relieved Wokorach after the game. “ The team has been working hard and it showed today. Even when it seemed like we were struggling, the boys did not give in but kept working until we finished off the game,” he noted.

The win extends Heathens’ unbeaten run and takes them to 46 points. Had they failed to get the bonus point and Kobs do, they would have swapped places but they mantain the lead.

For Buffaloes, it was their second loss in a row after falling to Hippos last week.
