Hornbills will go down as the first side to win the Ngo League, a Sunday tourney played by old boys of Namilyango College, after capping off the final day with 1-0 and 3-1 wins against Bamusayi Muto and Stingers respectively.

Without talisman Ivan Magomu, the crop which left Namilyango in 2013, had struggled on the last matchday with only a point out of six to show. His return came with three goals to help them clinch the title at Kiwatule Recreational Centre with the awards ceremony later at Infinity Cafe and Lounge, Ntinda.

“The season was a testing ride but we stood the test of time and we can't wait to defend our title next season," said skipper Gerald Adridabo.

The final day was always going to come with its share of drama. Up to three sides were in contention for the title. With Hornbills at 34 points, FC Butida and Barbarians on 33 were waiting to spoil the party but Hornbills did not slip up. The Horbills roaster of Samson Natasha, Lennon Ssemuwemba, Lewis Ainebyona, Ibrahim Karaoke, Trevor Ssenyonjo, Desmond Kisambwe, Elias Taban and captain Abidrabo among others has led standings for majority of the campaign and the championship was not much of a surprise.
