Rugby Cranes captain Asuman Mugerwa has not been the ‘popular` captain with some questioning his leadership. His critics have pointed out decision making as a facet he lacks in but his coach, Robert Seguya, supports and understands why he might have fallen short at times.

“None is perfect and you cannot compare people,” said Seguya . “ But my take is people are entitled to their opinions,” he adds in defence of his captain.

Seguya goes on to state that it’s everyone’s responsibility to play a role in helping the captain make the best decision. A fitting scenario would playout if a side is awarded a penalty within kicking distance and the kicker/kickers are reluctant, the captain takes charge while if the kicker immediately asks for the ball, easy choice for the skipper to point at the posts . It’s more of the “attitudes” surrounding you that influence a captain as Seguya explains.

Zambia, the winless side in the 2019 Victoria Cup, visits for a tie Kyadondo this Saturday. Uganda’s last two games have ended in losses they could have been avoided. Against Kenya, a good start saw the side collapse.

At Legends against Zimbabwe, Uganda recovered from a 19-0 deficit only to be overpowered 26-31 in the end .
