Kampala. Just when SC Villa fans had started believing Douglas Bamweyana had ensured stability, the club managed to plumb new depths following their ejection from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by third division side Nkambi Coffee.
The Jogoos bowed out of the competition at the round-of-32 stage following a 2-0 defeat at the Masaka Recreation Ground, where they won 20 of the 23 games they played before again shifting their home ground
The result will add further tension at the club which is under the interim leadership of William Nkemba.
The committee is still running the club more than a month after they were supposed to pave way for elections with players revealing there was a breakdown in communication with the club leadership. The situation in the league is meanwhile far from ideal either with the club having finished the first round just above the three relegation places.

They started the season by picking only four points from the opening eight games leading to the departure of coach Moses Basena. But they picked up only two wins in a seven-game sequence in which they suffered only one defeat. And while the competition was viewed as a distraction following their current predicament, coach Douglas Bamweyana appeared to take the competition seriously going by his starting team. This included league leading marksman Bashir Mutanda whose 10 goals are among the few positives this season starting alongside AbdulRaham Ajab and Ambrose Kirya while YusuF Mukisa marshalled the defence.
The other games involved Bul edging Mbarara 5-4 on penalties in an all Uganda Premier League clash that involved James Otim’s late strike cancelling out Pistis Barenga’s opener for Mbarara.
