What you need to know:

  • Tedious. It is still possible for a player to beat the screening exercise but still be found guilty later in the tournament. At that stage, a school can be banned for up to three years.

KAMPALA. The famed ‘Schools World Cup,’ the Copa Coca-Cola tournament, officially starts today with the tedious screening exercise at Jinja College.

59 teams will compete to dethrone Buddo SS, who won their second trophy in Mbarara last year after beating Kimaanya in.

Surprsingly, the losing finalists are missing from the final tournament after failing to qualify.
Raphael Bwire, the national organising committee chairman told Daily Monitor on Friday ahead of the teams’ reporting yesterday that they must keep the tournament as clean as possible.

“All games teachers bringing teams know the rules but they try to beat them. We shall show no mercy to anyone. This process is important because it promotes a level ground play,” he said.
The groups will also be drawns today without any seeding. The opening games will be played tomorrow ahead of Tuesday’s ceremony.
