Yesterday’s Fufa Drum tourney final at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira was a cagey, mundane display no team wanted to lose. The 0-0 stalemate after 90 minutes saw few and far chances created with both Acholi and Bukedi.

Acholi prevailed 5-3 in the post match shootout to lift their first ever Fufa Drum tile and the accompanying Shs30m cash prize.
By the time center referee Rajab Bakasambe blew the final whistle, it was evident that Acholi, had done their home work, reaped from the animated fanbase and deserved to be crowned this year’s winners. The ululations spread like wildfire in Lira as Acholi fans, in hundreds celebrated the hard earned victory. The deputy speaker of Parliament Jacob Olanya was not spared upon getting the news after chairing yesterday’s session; “I feel like flying to Lira. Am super excited, congratulations boys, I’m so proud of you,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Geoffrey Akena’s side looked the better side even when their marksman Tito Okello failed to get out of the blocks quickly.
