Buddo to represent Uganda at the Copa Nations Cup

Buddo Secondary School coach Simon Mugerwa is excited about the chance to represent Uganda at the newly inaugurated Copa Cup of Nations tournament that will be hosted in Kenya next month.

All 2018 Copa Coca-Cola winning teams from Africa will converge in Nakuru, Kenya for a high level training program as well as a new tournament dubbed the “African Cup”.

Speaking to the Daily Monitor yesterday, Mugerwa talked about the opportunity as a huge bonus.
“We have been preparing since landing this invitation and we want to not only go and learn but also compete,” Mugerwa said.
Buddo won their second title beating Blessed Sacrament Kimaanya 1-0 in a highly competitive game at Kakyeka in the western Uganda district of Mbarara in May.

The nine-day tournament is expected to start on December 8 and end on 16th.
Maggie Kigozi, the Coca-Cola Uganda Marketing Manager hailed the platform that has helped Ugandan youth showcase and hone their talents.
“Every year has its unique success story. This is an opportunity for our players to learn from the same players they will probably compete with in the future,” Kigozi said.

In Africa, Copa Coca-Cola is played in 22 other countries that include Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda, Congo, Swaziland, Nigeria and South Africa, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Mauritius and Burundi. Outside the continent, Copa Coca-Cola is played in a total 64 countries reaching out to over 1.3 million teenagers.

The initiative connects and engages teens with the prospect of attaining their football dreams whilst also encouraging them to bond, form new friendships and acquire significant social through team involvement.
