KAMPALA. Ivan Adubango was the hero as Buliisa beat Hoima Municipality to win the 2018 CNOOC Amasaza title on Saturday.
Adubango struck the winner in the second half to hand his team a 2-1 victory and in so doing dethrone last year’s winners Hoima.

The game was played at a frenetic pace before a capacity crowd at Kyatiri Primary School in Masindi District.

Collins Wabyone handed the defending champions the advantage early on before Deo Bedigo’s penalty restored parity.
While Hoima have showcased nerves of steel with their defensive resolve throughout the competition, Buliisa have been the more adventurous side all through and Adubango’s winner was just reward for their attacking verve.

Infact Buliisa could and should have won by a bigger margin but their finishing was lethargic.

Buliisa took home a trophy, bull and a winner’s cheque of Shs1.2m while Hoima received a bull and Shs1m.

“The competition brings us together and showcases our values as a people and we can’t thank our sponsors CNOOC enough,” he said.

The tournament attracted seven districts in the kingdom including Kiryandongo, Buliisa, Hoima, Masindi, Kibale and Kikuube.
Fufa Executive member Rogers Byamukama observed that the region is one of the areas the federation have earmarked for support because ‘its dedication to improving football in the country.’

Hoima’s Alex Diisi was chosed as the best player of the competition while Buliisa’s Adubango emerged top scorer.
