What you need to know:

  • Water have spent the previous few seasons since 2012 with their heads just barely above water.

  • Water coach Umar Ssenoga wants his players to banish the memory of recent poor performances which have left them on eight points from seven games.

KAMPALA. With the promotion fight gaining shape, places at the summit of the Big League are exchanging hands every after match day. But for some teams, getting new tacticians is high on the agenda.

Last season’s play-off finalists, Hoima’s Kitara have taken a gamble on former Vipers coach Edward Golola until the end of the season replacing Sam Kawalya.

Kitara CEO Joshua Atugonza confirmed that Golola, who was on the bench during the 0-0 draw with Plascon last week, will work with Docker Magara as his assistant.

After being overlooked at Vipers, the St Mary’s SS Kitende head coach, is tasked with earning the team direct promotion.
Despite having an experienced squad, Kitara lies mid-table with two wins from seven outings.

Six pointer for Water, Dove
There are very few instances this early on in the campaign where you can call a game a relegation six pointer and not have it be a joke. But Water and Dove find themselves in that position.

Water have spent the previous few seasons since 2012 with their heads just barely above water. Their upcoming encounter against fellow strugglers, Dove, is quite intriguing. Water coach Umar Ssenoga wants his players to banish the memory of recent poor performances which have left them on eight points from seven games.

“If you don’t win games, your players lose confidence. We have lost four games from a winning position and that is something we are working hard to rectify,” Ssenoga said.

His opposite, Mark Twinamasiko, realises odds are stacked against him to maintain the club’s Big League status. The Masindi side is just one point better on nine points in the seventh place.
Twinamasiko claimed: “We have got a point to prove against Water. We need more vigour and aggression because a win is needed.”
